Chase

Chase

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

That Bailey boy....He's gotten me all hot and bothered....too bad I love him.

"
My mind falls victim to your charms
My heart to your bright eyes and easy smile.
How do I love you? Let me count the ways.

It begins in the depths of waters unexplored and reaches to the tip of every star,
Wherever your soul ventures you are never too far.

Your voice sends shivers down my spine and I'm forced to rethink my dismay
For how true can it be as you stand by side and pray?

My will falls victim to your own
And my soul to your light heart and simple mind.
How do I love you? Let me count the ways.

It follows your dreams down the river and past your painted dawn
Giving chase, so I may raise you even when my footholds are long since gone.

Your touch melts my cold facade and warms my bitterness to the point of ecstasy
For how sad can I be when you look at me, even past me?

My strength falls victim to your kind heart
And my sanity to your gentle hugs and warm chest.
How do I love you? Let me count the ways.

It is the soft soil beneath your feet as you run after my friend, and I after you
In a pitiful cycle of cat and mouse centered around you, my you, and her too.

Your wishes kiss my cheek and linger, buzzing down into my giving hands and providing them with the power to go on
For how dreadful can it be if it is wrapped in such beautiful colors, even if its wrong?

My happiness falls victim to your desires
And my smiles grow with every beat and every fulfillment you have.
How do I love you? Let me count the ways.

You are the only person I've ever loved enough to want without
Even as you take my soul, but leave enough to keep me thinking of you, always, with no doubt.

I'm left enough of my being to taste your name on my lips, wishing yours were truly there...In you I'm lost
But how much blame can I put on you if you know not?

My all falls victim to yours
And my loyalty lies with a single chuckle and your burning trust, blazing passion.
How much do I love you? More than death, Chase, more than death.

I enjoyed the poem. Sometimes we fall and it is okay. Emotion can lead us to good places and bad. We need to hope for a good ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thanks for your review Coyote!
You speak of pleasant melancholy and the contentment in being nothing, the blessing to be once considered, then abandoned to the wind. Such an unpleasant feeling, and to find comfort in the misfortune is what frightens me the most, because I've taken refuge in the same predicament once as well

Thanks. ^^
That's one hesitant melancholy. Though I understand the small font represents the lack of comfort in speech, it becomes hard to read. I think you might want to enlarge it a bit! Nice read! :)
