Its Like We Died

Its Like We Died

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

A query

"
In the mirror
We looked cracked and imperfect
It and I
Side by side
In a sort of fervent fever.

But when did your arms become a noose
Wrapping around me ever so tightly
It and I
Soaring through the sky
In a state of passionate pandemonium.

Love and Lethal
Hearts filled with poison that tortures one but not the other
It and I
Haunting cries
In a life of eager ecstasy.

So why couldn't death claim two instead of one
When it cut out the soul of myself and left my unresponsive shell
It and I
Lost the high
In an element of devoted delirium.

The doctors wanted my happy place so it was what I gave them
Beautiful pictures that allowed my release
It and I
Breathing lies
In a world of petty pretenders.

Author's Note

Riley Bray
This is a poem about trust and how one person can steal it all. After being betrayed by the person they presented said trust to, they were deemed mentally unstable and sent to therapists, where they found nothing wrong with their patient because of the lies and sent her on her way.
