![]() If You Forget MeA Poem by Riley Bray![]() You were the only one I've ever loved...![]() ![]() I remember you as you were, beside the tree in the summer last. You were mercy, hope and love unending. In your arms my hold on reality melted, to keep us close And the hyacinth flowers blossomed in the center of your beating heart. I remember you as you were, beside the tree in the summer last. You were strength, courage and faith unmatched. In your eyes the flames of dusk licked at my affection to keep the spark And the fireflies illuminated the core of your meaningful soul. I remember you as you were, beside me in this winter cold. You were distance, sadness and guarded emotions unyielding. In your hands my fingers knotted and held you tightly to keep you from unraveling And the animals inside us danced slowly to the same song. But today, I who have had so many words to speak Said my last to you, my immortal beloved, Upon request, Forever and for always. So if you forget me, in this foreign, bitter world. Know I'll still be compassion, devotion, fidelity, sentiment, tenderness and enchantment. In your unconscious memories of me you will find safety to keep your light shining And your remorse will be cleansed so maybe you may dance again. After all, I pinky promised.
