Homeland

Homeland

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

From.

"
I come from hereditary depression
And short torsos.
From the pitter patter of five pairs of little feet
That guide themselves away.

I come from the dirty street signs
With spray cans emptied out over them.
From large, piercing blue eyes
And pursed red lips.

I come from forced religion
And fake faith.
From delicate angels
And other false things.

I exist in the place between black and white,
For there is my homeland.
