Vellum

Vellum

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

Do you dare to cross swords with the beast?

"
Rip the bloody creature
Spill out all its core
Tear it up to shreds
And leave it for the birds.

Claw up the ugly narcissist
And snap its every bone
Fray its every fragment
And wait until its gone.

Cleave its every limb
And burst its every vessel
Dash its every plea
And knock its every trestle.

Mar its every twitching leftover
And blister its every cell
Rive its every hope
And send it straight to hell.

Cut the beast in half
And set the girl home free
Obliterate its existance
For the knight in shining armor has come, finally.

I was thinking this monster is the worse side of me, and I was going over what I would be like without my inner beast. What do you think?

I suspect the companion you command was an aspect of yourself, as was the monster . . . I really enjoyed this poem. The rhythm to the poem gives it a steady drum-like beat, and the descriptions make the story-line so vivid. I feel like I'm there, watching the sword flash, the claws scratch, the girl running home, and knight in bloody armor... it's wonderful.
Great job!
Sylvia.
