Gone And Back

Gone And Back

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

The night has fled because day has dawned.

"
The night has gone long
The hurt has been deep
The cave has been dank
And the climb has been steep.

You lay mangled in a heap on the edge of humanity
And I was dragged across insanity.
Your eyes were dead, your heart was dormant,
Your thoughts were cold and soul was distant.

You were helpless and so was I
With fear and confusion embedded deep in our eyes
But rather unfortunately I must say
You were long gone before the light came.

That night has gone long
The hurt has been deep
The cave has been dank
And the climb has been steep.

But the present is dark, past darker still
Yet it has sharpened my mind and hardened my will.
With my eyes filled with longing, and heart beating fast
My thoughts are drenched in madness and my soul is furious.

I am helpless and so were they
With loss and abandonment written on wrists
But fortunately I can say
I've survived the darkest of days.

The night has gone long
The hurt has been deep
The cave has been dank
And the climb has been steep.

But here where the tunnel ends
I see a future dead ahead
And maybe it will have its potholes
But I have gone far and come back again.

Quite beautiful. You did really well on this and I enjoyed reading it. Brought me right into a field of emotion. I like when I read something and it does that. Nice.
