Just A Human Being

Just A Human Being

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

I have a sinking feeling that there's nothing left that I can do

"
I'm just a human being
Ready to take the blame again
But I am barely seeing
A reason to stick around my friend

And I'm just hoping sometime soon
I'll find a dream to dream with you
And maybe we can live anew
But until then I'll wait and bid a fond adieu.

I'm just another dreamer
Waiting for something true as truth
A rock solid demeanor
That will be quite hard to break through

And I'm just hoping sometime soon
I'll find a dream to dream with you
And maybe we can live anew
But until then I'll wait and bid a fond adieu.

Don't be scared,
I'm here,
But not for much longer.
Close your eyes,
Nothing to fear,
You'll be getting stronger.

And I'm just hoping sometime soon
I'll find a dream to dream with you
And maybe we can live anew
But until then I'll wait and bid a fond adieu.

I have a sinking feeling
That there's nothing left I can do
My mind and heart are reeling
And right now I have no real muse

And I'm hoping sometime soon
I'll find a dream to dream with you
And maybe we can live anew
But until then I'll wait and bid a fond adieu.

The repeated "chorus" (as it was quite rhythmic) gives me a sense of several repeated efforts or several "last chances" that haven't come to anything. It is quite sad, but I empathize as I too have been in that situation where you can't abandon someone who is using you. And you say goodbye many times, too many times.
This speaks to me deeply. If this is not your intended message than I guess it has more meaning than you meant, as that is the way it reads to me.
I hope you can resolve these feelings, even though they have birthed this amazing poem.

You got it right. :) I thank you for reviewing.
"I'll find a dream to dream with you" That's such a painful line,Riley, that you speak to your selfish non-adjusting friend. A friend for whom you would do a lot, but they are not ready to do anything for you. You'll fly yourselves to emotional places you've never been and the friend would just put you down. You deserve someone better. Very nice poem :)

And that, indeed, is the sadder part. Welcome :)

Thank you. :)
I really like this piece. I especially like the line:

"I'm just another dreamer
Waiting for something true as truth,"

It describes the mentality of dreamers and hopeless romantics alike in such accuracy. This is a solid write and I think it will sound even better if you sing it!

Haha you have to help me out with recording it, but I would gladly do so! Glad you liked it!!
i see a pattern here which suggests a song...this is very good in concept, there is some rhyming issue going on but it doesn't deter from the impact of the piece, it does flow and strongly enough that the rhyme doesn't get lost..well penned.

the last line of the second stanza really jumps out, other than that it is very doable.
