A Blazing Remorse BloomsA Poem by Riley Bray...Erupting in flames, inside and out...
Far past the hilltops searing,
To valleys small and meadows sneering With a single tall tree standing watch I reside quietly weeping Forlorn solstices are beginning Burning air and hair is singeing The screams of the dead and dying echo Standing alone with my soul cringing. Flames rising up and ever higher A leach of life made all from ire A menacing shadow as day turns dusk And I retreat to the thicket briar. Its reaping souls, I feel it quiver Tears disappearing while I shiver Chilled in the white heat of frozen hell And disappearing down a dry downriver. A painted primrose of foreboding endings Left alone, there's no pretending Shallow thoughts and a shaking body And no way to comprehend. Far past the hilltops searing,
To valleys small and meadows sneering With a single tall tree standing watch I reside quietly weeping © 2013 Riley BrayAuthor's Note
