Tormented Inside

Tormented Inside

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

We might as well all be puppets and life our puppeteer.

"
We're just characters in a storybook
Along for the ride.
Made to live and sadly
Eventually die.
And I don't know if I should laugh
Or maybe I'll cry
I'm just

Tormented inside.

We're just pawns set out on a chessboard
Waiting for a
Move to be made.
Not knowing what lies before us
But stupidly striding forward
While staying in place.
I'm just

Tormented inside.

Whats up?
Whats down?
Does it matter?
When can
I live my own life?
(Are you kidding me?)
Looks like we're just along for the ride

Truly, tormented inside.

We're just another face on the record
Of people in a database.
Our role is to buy and be bought out
And moved to a destiny not yet ascertained.
Blindly leaping
When they say leap
Loyal dogs to society and I'm just

Tormented inside.
