The Little Red Fox - The Quest Part ThreeA Poem by Joshua McNayThe little red fox is close to the end, his quest to save the princess is about over...or is it??The little red fox continued down the cave, All the while thinking of the princess he had to save. He still had a job to do. It can’t be far now, just need to push through. The cave was starting get a little small, A good thing the fox was little after all. As he made his way through, he saw a gleam up ahead, The treasure perhaps? Was his trek at an end? To his surprise before him was a glorious chest, But it was locked, and he saw no key to open the chest. Some words were etched in the side, They read “Solve my riddle and the key will no longer hide.”, A curious thing the fox thought, a riddle for a key, well all right, He looked around but saw no riddle in sight. After some time, the fox nearly gave up, That was until he happened to look up. On the ceiling clear as day, Was the riddle that was hidden away. It read, “To unlock the chest and finish the quest, To be like King Arthur, is my only request.”. The fox was at a loss, so he sat and he thought, and thought, He looked around but sadly found naught. Frustrated the fox tossed his sword in the air, This should be simple, come on it’s not fair! The sword landed straight, with its tip in the ground, Just then the fox heard a happy sound. The chest unlocked! But why? thought the fox, He walked to his sword now stuck in the rocks. Oh! Like Arthur the sword in the stone! Guess it was lucky my sword was thrown. The fox walked to the chest, his whole journey lead up to this, He opened the chest, But wait what’s this?? © 2017 Joshua McNayAuthor's Note
