Soda FreeA Poem by Joshua McNayA month soda free and I feel great!Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Local man goes month without it! Goes without what, son? He ponders, Why Soda sir, the boy replies. Then the man wonders... Wait, why is this news? It doesn't seem that big to me. The man struggled for a long time you see, Soda was a burden, a crutch, a failure he couldn't stop, So when a month went by, all our jaws did drop! It was easier then he expected, to give it up. I see said that man, and starts to clap, so that's whats up. - End Scene - Granted no one will ever write up a news story about my little victory, Either way going a month without soda, is a very big deal for me. It was the thing at the top of my list, the worst thing I knew I did, If I was ever going to work towards a change, It was the first I did. Looking back on how I consumed it, it breaks my heart, A normal person's daily caloric intake in soda alone? and that was the start. Add in the food I also ate, and you can see how it snowballed out of control, So when I decided as a resolution to give it up, I was going to finally take control. No longer, will the dark mistress that is soda, be allowed to ruin my body, I basically went cold turkey, and let me tell you that was really hard for me. It started with headaches, I assume from my body screaming for what it was used to, I didn't give in, despite feeling horrible, I pushed on, more water was what I had to do. As the days went on, and my body started to crave it less and less, I started to feel better, Physically I wasn't as much a mess. But let's face the hard truth, while stopping soda is a very big step for me, its a footnote, in a larger picture I can't fully see. Moving forward with my new found knowledge of my little victory, The coming months are going to be interesting, just wait and see!
