The Little Red FoxA Poem by Joshua McNayJust a little something I wrote while at work. About a little Red Fox.This is the tale of a little red fox The little red fox loved his red socks If you would ask him he’d say they rocked If you didn’t like them he might be shocked The little red fox's name was Willie When he would dance in his socks he looked kind of silly He had to wear them, because outside was so chilly The little red fox had a friend who was a tortoise His friend was named Morris Morris took great care of his shell He would wax and polish to protect it well Willie and Morris were an unlikely pair They met when at lunch and Willie decided to share Friends till the end they both would shout Often times they’d laugh, but forget what about One day the two were walking in the mall When Willie noticed a sale, socks! 50% off all His face lit up and he couldn’t believe But he and Morris had a plan, he couldn’t just leave A sale! A sale Morris! Do you think we have time? I think we can spare a few minutes my dear friend Willie The fox darted toward the sale of socks, all of this, all
of this for me! Blue ones, yellow ones, ones with polka dots, oh my! The rack
is so tall The fox was so giddy to try on them all So many socks to pick and choose Add in the sale and how could he lose? Time’s up! Morris proclaimed The fox didn’t get to try them all, boy what a shame He gathered up the socks that he liked A bag full of socks, the fox was psyched! Ok Morris, where to now? The fox asked curiously Oh don’t you worry, soon you will see. They walked past many stores, on their way Where was he taking me? Morris just wouldn’t say. Ok stop here, Morris said. As he proceeded to place a blindfold on the fox’s head It’s so dark Morris, I really can’t see That’s kind of the point, you just have to trust me Ok said the fox, who was not afraid of the dark When I open my eyes there better not be a shark! Morris laughed at his friend the fox If I did it would be in a tank with super secure locks Ok were here, you can take it off now. The blindfold came off and he let out a wow! All his friends were there Even the grumpy old Mr. Hare Happy birthday Willie! They all shouted together A tear rolled down his face, you did all this for me? Of course my friend, we want to celebrate you! We want to show our thanks for all that you do The little red fox who cared for socks Was loved by so many, and that truly rocks. © 2017 Joshua McNayAuthor's Note
