My Dream

My Dream

A Poem by Joshua McNay
"

Just something I wrote after waking up from a wonderful dream and coming to the realization it will never happen.

"
I keep thinking about my dream,
trying to figure what it all means.
I close my eyes and search for answers,
but all I see is that face of hers.
I wish I never woke up to this,
back to the world where my dream doesn't exist.

The reality is harsher than in my mind
Inside there's no need to search to find.
It's all right there in front of me,
Everything I want and wish to see.

I guess that's the beauty of dreams,
The world you create isn't always as it seems.
What appears to be perfect,
Is really just coping with your defects.

An escape is what my dream was to me,
An image of a world that will never truly be.
So I'll close my eyes once more,
and maybe I'll find what I am searching for.

Thank you. I wasn't sure on sharing it since it seemed rough but glad it isn't as bad as I imagined.
