An angel's attention, I seek.A Poem by Just_Joshing
Shadows lingered beside the door,
Under the closet, and all over the floor. Their darkness scraped the edge of my light, That had lost its might, and was beginning to fade from sight. Then I saw your perfect face, I was exposed in full to your alarming grace. Your smile transcended the entire room, And decimated the blanket of depressing gloom. Your eyes, they shone, like a beacon in the sea, They acted like a guide, and showed me who I wanted to be. Your hair was flowing, long, straight and brown, With your royal blue ribbon, acting like a crown. You were, and still are, a goddess from afar, Who cranked open my depressing cage, and left it ajar. But i fear i can not reach the height at which you stand, Will I ever reach a place that gilded and grand? I will put on a brave face, and climb the rock wall, And try not to fear the fact I might fall. I will sail the ocean, briny and blue, Simply for a chance to talk to you. I will travel the tundra, frozen and cold, To prove to you that I can truly be bold. I will jump from a jet, a thousand feet high, For whenever I see you, I believe I can fly. But has the goddess I worship noticed me back? Or do I house the worth of a lowly thumbtack? No! These thoughts, they are like a plague. The wish to rob my resolve and make me seem vague! But as long as I have you within my bleary sight, My future has never ever looked this bright. When I talk to you I feel my heart race, It pushes me onward, to take first place. I wish it were that simple, easy and bland. But when I go to tell you how I feel, my mouth turns to sand. My knees tremble, tremor and shake, and feel as if about to break. What is it that makes my cower in this way? For if it continues, my sky shall turn grey. One more time, I will try to confide, those secrets i do hide. The future draws close, yes, it draws near, And I can see your face bright and clear, A place beside you I long to hold, Until that day comes, when we both die old. These buildings above us, they tower so high, From the earth and rock, right to the sky. The river that flows between you and I, Grows and grows further, as I continue to try. © 2016 Just_JoshingAuthor's Note
