My Backpack

My Backpack

A Poem by Jessica A.D.

I love the feel of the weight of my backpack
Climbing over hills, hewn of soil or concrete
Shifting its contents which without I wouldn't be complete
Joyfully stumbling along my chosen path

My face lifted to kiss the sky
Skipping over rocks and sidewalks
Shadow dancing with the light
My feet beneath me steady

Heading for the right direction
Each step a pace towards my intention
Slowing down with anticipation
I drop my pack at my destination
