True

True

A Poem by Jessica A.D.

May not be that smart
Or as cool as you are
I gave you my love
And you took my heart
Now it's broken
You tore us apart

Didn't have a say
In how the game was played
We agreed I f it stops being fun we'd end it
I repeatedly swore I'd end us
But you never gave up

What you said is true
If you walked out that door
Would be the last time I'd see you
What we knew is over.

This is hard but real. It is six lines, then five, then four. Maybe you should write a three line stanza, a two line stanza, and a single line at the end, to complete it. I think that would be pretty damn clever! Like the structure of a movie, the most dramatic scene is in the exact middle. Let the epilogue to this scene be unexpected like the third act of a good movie. There is always a twist. You already know the twist, because I already know this story. You just have to write it in. Then find a great one liner to end it!! And BOOM, it's over!
