Angel?

Angel?

A Poem by Jessica D
"

Sometimes its not what it appears...

"

Looking up at the blue air,

While the pale shapes dance,

comes, Oh my! What a sight!

The most beautiful being.

Feathered wings spread wide.

Encircled in a yellow light.

     (caution...)

It ascends to earth.

Standing so proud and tall.

A smile on a perfect face.

Hazel eyes stare kind.

From the lightest cloud this came!

     (Caution...)

The heavenly body stands.

And, what's this?  I wouldn't think?

Black feathers I did not see.

The poor angelic soul drowned in drink.

     (CAUTION!)

At a closer inspection,

all the glitter was drained.

Blackend feather wings broken.

Stood in shame behind icy bars.

And forever will be chained.

      (Stop...)

And the tears stain the ragged shirt.

A wall of glass in between us.

Could not pawn the halo for bail.

So for now, the angel will sleep in the dirt.
