512A Poem by jdcdickenson
It had been pouring down rain for days and my dog was starving to death
We split a Wendy's hamburger and kept the windows in the van rolled down The cool air helped soothe the burns of a summer with no breezes In the morning the rain stopped and the sun came and we parked the van and took a bath in a river The joggers came in bright shoes and expensive shorts and pretended not to notice us We dried off and got in the van and drove to nowhere That night we parked, and starved, until we fell asleep
