Earl

Earl

A Story by Joshua David Dary
"

A short story about a duck named Earl.

"
There once was a duck named Earl.
Funny enough, this duck named Earl was a girl.
As you could imagine, Earl was always teased.
With all the names they called her, Earl was never pleased.

She had only one friend, whose name was Sally.
Sally was a frog, who really loved her little dolly.
She croaked, and croaked, until one day,
The duck named Earl just waddled away.

Sally looked for days and weeks;
Finding Earl was no easy feat.
She looked through the pond, and on top of the rocks,
Sally found Earl's bright red socks.

Sally asked Dolly, "Where did Earl go?
She wouldn't just leave in all her woe."
Just then and there, Sally heard a loud "QUACK!"
There was Earl, laughing on her way back!

"My goodness Earl, you scared the croak out of me!
Where on earth have you been?" asked Sally.
Earl grinned and said, "I've been looking around.
For those red socks, Sally, which have now been found!"
