The Bells

The Bells

A Poem by Jayden Ireton

I hear the bells
clang clang clang metal on metal
melodic sounds soothing of the soul
restoring the souls sores
strengthening my heart
the bells calling to me

come hither young man
to the churchyard I am bound
pray not disappoint thy lord.

I qutie enjoyed this one. The images were tangible, and yet there was something beneath the surface that shined. I see this as a piece with very good bones, and perhaps a little "sprucing up" of the format could make it jump off the page a little more.

I hear the bells
clang, clang, clang--metal on metal (I would italicize "clang, clang, clang" for impact)
melodic sounds soothing the soul
restoring the souls sores (I would choose a different word for "soul" here--used twice)
strengthening my heart
the bells calling to me

Come hither young man
to the churchyard I am boung
pray not disappoint thy lord (this is a great ending, so I would set it apart from the rest)

Just some thoughts to show you a little different perspective. Overall, I enjoyed the read. Thank you.

Thank you so much for the read and the help with formatting. I truly am lost when it comes to that.
come hither young man
to the churchyard I am bound
pray not disappoint thy lord.

What a strong ending! A great read!

Thank you so much
I like this poem! You painted a pretty real picture, and also the feeling of being lifted up by God. Great job! :)
