For The One I Used To Love

For The One I Used To Love

A Poem by Jessica Dallaire
"

December 26, 2006 - Oh wow... I would have thought I had written this later, haha.

"

I sit here and ponder

About who I am today

I let my mind wander

And think of my yesterdays

As I tried to avoid

The time that I once knew

I somehow managed

To let myself remember you

In my mind’s eye

I remember a bright sunny day

A broken down swing-set

And a place not that far away

I see you in my mind

A blonde haired boy

Me as a young girl

A time I now wish to destroy

I loved you in my youth

And wanted us always together

I now know the truth

Nothing lasts forever

As I think on it now

I do not want my memory banished

I would lose everything

If this memory had vanished

A first look at you

And I knew what love was

My every instinct proved true

It felt like a gift from above

I think of how we were

And hold your picture in my hands

I wish that I could thank you

For helping me become who I am
