I Am FromA Poem by Jessica DallaireJune, 2008. Dave's poetry class. Yay CAHS.
I am from mid-July sunsets at nine at night, From walking barefoot on the beach and I am from the sandcastles that will be washed away by morning.
I am from those old rusted play structures, From a perfectly imperfect yard of grass and A blow-up swimming pool full of balloons from a birthday party.
I am from “Good Morning Beautiful,” From a radio station that never sounded clear and The smell of homemade French toast filling the house on the weekends.
I am from the spontaneous Oregon rain, From orange leaves scattering the ground and Trick-or-treating every year until midnight despite the freezing temperature.
I am from big family picnics at the lake, From watermelon and grilled hot dogs and My siblings and cousins splashing in the water as my dad sat on the dock fishing.
I am from an old photo album, From memories I can never relivee and Pictures with worn and torn edges, of times when life was simple and care-free. © 2008 Jessica Dallaire |
