The Sleepers Know Not Less

The Sleepers Know Not Less

A Poem by jdTella

the sleepers know not less

than those who get no rest

for resting fixes the mess

picking on your head and chest

crushing leaves for fun

cannot be always on the run

from responsibilities

and families and bills

but as long as summer is

as long as now exists

you can close your eyes

and pretend it’s all a dream

I heard a singer sing

“I’ve got nothing to do

                  to day

but smile”

and so I will

because for now

reality can wait

The first three stanzas entwine well, and there are a few bright and endearing images, and some lovely word play.
The rhyme seems so strong in the beginning, its sad that it could not last the full four furloughs.
As I said, the first three stanzas entwine well, the fourth feels like its just not hearing the same music.
But still, what works is more important than what can be worked on, if one wished to.
