walking on grant street

walking on grant street

A Poem by jcfrancis

walking on grant street

i walked by

the house we used to

live in

yesterday.

it was empty;

abandoned.

the garden was

overgrown

and all the flowers

that you had planted

for me

had died.

it seems as if

this should have

left me

feeling deeply contemplative,

or at least

a little sad.

but it did not.

it only left me

with a desire to

write a poem

without the benefit

of understanding why.

I adore this. The short lines make the flow so interesting and the almost mundane topic is so interesting written this way!
