CornersA Poem by Jennifer Lenhardt
All things eventually get in
and nature encroaches no matter how secure our houses, with doors and windows locked, that no man breaches, but nature tears at the very corners, at the very fibers of our beings, and lets herself in, where mouse scurries across floors in secret, hoping, that no one sees him running, with pretzel in hand, and bee buzzes at the corners of invisible glass, trapped, wondering why he cannot pass through closed windows, where repeatedly he bangs his head, while spider watches gleefully, preparing, as he ties a napkin around his neck, happy and fat to have built such sticky webs, yes, all things eventually get in no matter how secure our houses, and nature encroaches, even under the watchful eye of the guard dog who only pretends he's always sleeping © 2011 Jennifer LenhardtAuthor's Note
