TABBY DREAMS

TABBY DREAMS

A Poem by jeannemarie coulter
"

for lovers of bast and her progeny

"

TABBY DREAMS

quiet and elegant she sits,
gazing with emerald eyes
into worlds no person can see...
she scans her universes
as royalty should,
after all, she is a kin of bast...
she is the mystery that lives
walking like mist across a pond
as graceful as spanish lace
draping the frock of queen isabella,
granting her human companions
a whisper soft approval
with a touch of her nose to their cheek
she rules her home worlds
as only a daughter of an egyptian goddess would
drifting through our homes,
a sleek grey to black shadow
fading in and out from her dreams to ours
regally alone and aware that she is...
a cat.
