DEATH MASKS

DEATH MASKS

A Poem by jeannemarie coulter

DEATH MASKS
created by politics,
wealth,
and excess...
malignant, ignorant,
darkness slivers
through the halls
of mind numbed politicians,
whose broken promises sway
 like
dust dripping cobwebs
 draped across doorways
where exit signs blink
 in the eyes
of ghost soul children
born in streets
 of hate
and philosophic financial wars...

this is such a strong statement on the state of the world, and this nest of death and hate that children are growing up in....they either will be distracted enough by their texting and cell phone chats (unfortunately ) or become so cynical by the time they are 15 that they just won't care at all.

it is a shame...

so young, and already with ghost souls.

Wow does this hit a few chords for sure. Nicely done.
I think we're not just polluting our earth but the minds of our people, especially children.

Nicely done political commentary, dealing with the inaction of politicians who campaign only to be elected, not to do what they say they will. As adults we watch all this deterioration of the process and know the implications in the lives of the generations we leave behind. VERY nicely done! take care...dan

thank you, dan...this face of our culture has always distressed me...
It's the system itself, it even swallows up the ones with good intentions and when they can't be swallowed they are ignored and eventually vanish... it is unfortunate that this is what we will leave to the children of tomorrow: corruption and devastation of human morals...we are fast becoming an apathetic society...great write, Jeannemarie...

It sure sounds bleak the way that you have spelled it out! I think that I had better cash in my complete collection of S&H stamps!
