TRAIL HOME

TRAIL HOME

A Poem by jeannemarie coulter

TRAIL HOME
on the long trail home,
after gathering the fallen ones
for their final ceremony,
colors of the world are touched
by the loss of a warrior,
thoughts of home shaded  to sepia and grey...
sorrow
 a common companion
on this long, pale trail home,
taken with profound dignity...
yet there is joy, as well,
joy in the complete circle
of birth dancing the powerful path
of life into death
and rebirth
in the great spirit world
after a journey very well done
by warriors
with skill and honor...
