BAT MAGIC

BAT MAGIC

A Poem by jeannemarie coulter

BAT MAGIC
under the old stone bridge
hundreds of bats clinging
sleep wrapped in moss
and spider silk,
sail out to sip
water face flying at dusk...

magic come alive
for children playing below
in bat kissed pond
squealing with delight
 as dark wings swoop
caress water ripples
before they
 vanish into night...

A fresh perspective on bats. When I lived in Cairns, Australia 100s of bats would migrate at sundown to their resting place. It was truly a magical sight. A relatable piece in many forms. x
