when all that remained of civilization were endless concrete paths, and even those had fallen prey to the force of nature’s reclamation where they touched the earth face flat, then... the girl with rainbow liquid amber eyes and opposable toes played the flute with her feet creating music that removed the exit signs from the eyes of the universe, and the remnants of civilization called her songs “the walking after armageddon blues” and even now her songs echo through the soul of the cosmos where mankind and his freeways never existed...
ah, "the walking after armageddon blues", such a sad melody to whisper through the universe when it's all said and done... love this sombre and quiet piece, Jeannemarie... the description of fallen cement structures is perfect... it's good the rest of the universe is untouched by civilization, just think of the mess it would have left behind? One planet is enough... :)

i loved it, and I love any kind of blues, walking or otherwise :)
I love this story in the poetry. Description strong and beautiful. You create place of beauty and force of destruction. Men are heading to dead-end. Thank you dear Poet for sharing the excellent poetry.

This is a very imaginative poem that is well put together. It actually reminds me of something I heard once. On old radio dials when you turned them and got static with a tiny bit of signal from an unknown source, it's possible that signal was from an old time radio show that was bouncing around in space for decades.
So when you say "her songs echo through the soul of the universe, you're right.
jeannemarie, I'll tell you flat out that this is going into my library favorites. Your writing is always so well done but lately you seem to have added a few mph to your fastball. This piece is breathtaking. The piece quoted here ("..creating music that removed the exit signs from the eyes of the universe...") just seems so inspired, called up from a deeper feeling than can be explained. I could go gushing all day but I have about 17 more rr's to review. An exceptional piece! take care...dan
