PIRATE QUEEN

PIRATE QUEEN

A Poem by jeannemarie coulter
"

for the LOVE and LAUGHTER of pirates where ere they be...

"

PIRATE QUEEN

a pirate captain am i
and i will always be,
it dances in my blood
through all eternity
me mam , she was a bawdy wench
born in the caribee
from the rape of a spanish lord
by a sea witch
of the bayou cree...
and,
me dad, he was
a b*****d son
of portagee royalty
got upon an irish druid lass
held in slavery...

when mam popped me oot
like rum slopped upon the bar
me firey hair a springin aboot
like tight wound copper wire
the pegleg barkeep, with a wicked leer,
fed me a bottle a warm honey beer
and
 christened i was, marie dupree
by the bar wench passing clumsy
spilling six tankards upon her b***s n me
proclaiming merrily, you know
she howls,  just like old capn’ dupree
master n lord that dark pirate ship,
 the black marie

Aye, matey! As I'm reviewing my 27 read requests I have the ballgame on, my hometown Pittsburgh Pirates playing San Diego (which has certainly seen their share of pirates in days gone by). This piece was just a joy to read, a jaunty romp through pirate lore; you even managed to work in a character that had a peg leg! My favorite movie pirate? Captain Jack Sparrow by Johnny Depp. Thanks for the entertaining read! take care...dan

Hehe this is great! So cleaver in your rhyming and what a fun story to read! Indeed from the moment of birth she was destined to be a pirate. A fun witty write :)

you are welcome and thank you for the kind words
such an entertaining write and that character, well, she is a fiery one to be sure... will keep an eye out for other verses... i see you've already had a few below... this is fantastic... wish I had the poetic prowess to add something but these kinds of writes i find exhausting... great job, jeannemarie

Now, the black Marie carried
not a skull and cross-bones she
but, a one jack of a sailing man
backed up by his fiddlers three

They say his frigate was sleek and bold
was of Danish spruce and knotty pine
It's keel manufactured and layed in Old Turku
And was known to often fly three flags

Love that pic by the way, she looks like could handle herself very well in any fight. A fun poem to read and you did it with the pirate slang that they had. I like this piece very creative.
