in some cultures it is believed the souls of their loved ones will return in butterfly form to visit us again...i am sure my husband has done so more than once...

on the day of my mother's burial the little church was packed and as the priest began to walk down the aisle there everyone turned to see the procession... then there was a hush as a butterfly followed the priest and altar down the aisle... when it arrived at my mothers casket it landed atop a photo of her that had been placed at the center of the coffin, surrounded by flowers... the butterfly stayed there until we rolled the coffin down the aisle and before we left the church it flew off towards the ceiling... this was in November, long after butterflies had disappeared for the year...thank you for bringing this image back to me... the possibility that the soul can return offers a warm thought...

you tale is as lovely as mine...thank you for sharing it...jc
This poem has a beautiful sense behind it, I have heard that some people butterflies are indeed our departed loved ones. It makes for a peaceful tale. Even if someone you love is gone, they may be watching over you in one way or another. :)
I like the message of being determined to control your own destiny, yet at the same time you aren't exactly sure of what will be and what you will become.

I love the free butterflies. They are like gifts to show us freedom and beauty. I like the artwork and the description. A beautiful poem and thank you for sharing your words.

I did. Few butterflies here in Michigan. This is sad.
I must admit I read Jacob's review when I got here and was going to say something similar, but he said it much better than I probably would have. I recently posted a write called "butterfly in abstract," you may (or may not) enjoy. Now, can I ask you for a favor? I posted a poem in January, immediately after joining WC, called "her face." It only got two views and two reviews. I reposted it yesterday hoping to drum us some more interest. Would you please at least read it? I respect your opinion, so if you don't like it you can say that also. Thx...dan
if only the loved ones could go back into the cocoon, and then become new butterflies all over again...and start flying into our lives again.
beautiful piece.

and if you are caught and make it into some private collector's Monarch collection; what then? Will we still have proprietary rights to visit you in whatever volume you may be kept in?
