POSEIDON BOWLS

just a simple question...from bowling ball beach, ca

POSEIDON BOWLS

i see these ocean smoothed and rounded stones

lined up almost like a regiment,

and wonder

were they cannon balls

left behind no longer needed

used in some ancient war

between the gods of earth...

and the water gods...

no longer relevant to man...

 

then, i notice to my left,

the lane,

still visible in the sand

and wonder...

did poseidon always score a perfect game

or was zeus the more skilled bowler,

and did they use unfortunate mortals,

who had earned their wrath,

as pins...

 

and now,i wonder

what it would be like to settle in comfort,

with some honey mead

and fresh baked meat pies,

to watch the contest,

remembering to bless each god equally

with the finest of the pies and mead

so you would not make the list

of pins to be used...

i don't but i have a sister in law who does tournaments all around us...this beach was a wonderful place to visit...

plus i make a mean meat pie, my homemade amaretto is to die for...and i have been told my tamale pie is a rare form of ambrosia...and we won't mention my poppy seed fruit bread...

Would I prefer a humble submissive meat pie? And I wonder how homemade amaretto is made.

a lg bottle of brandy...2 lb dark brown sugar...2 oz almond extract good splash orange extract...12 c water...bring all the ingredients except the brandy to boil in lg soup pot stirring as you do to dissolve sugar...add lg bottle brandy (you can use vodka instead of brandy but the brandy gives it a deeper richer flavor)...let cool and bottle... let it age as long as you wish it is good right after it is made but the longer it ages the better it tastes...lol...enjoy...i use it as a glaze for prawns and for chicken and pork...also quite tasty as an amaretto n cream...hope you enjoy...jc
