DAWN

DAWN

A Poem by jeannemarie coulter

DAWN
with cranberry and
salmon fingers, dawn, smiling
draws back the drapes
of darkness, her soft touch brings
daylight streams to life...
rising from troubled sleep
i stumble for my
cuppa chocolate coffee amaretto cream laced
wander to the deck
morning glories wink at me,
and california
poppies sing for the dance of
the monark butterflies as
they flit from blossom
to blossom with joy
and a meadow larks laughter
ripples across the valley
i awaken with delight...

gosh, this is such a wonderful dawning of another day... your descriptions paint pictures with such vibrant colours and you always draw the reader into your world, on that deck, sipping that warm beverage, leaving all the senses stimulated... great write, Jeannemarie!

I must say this was a delight to read. I can't wait until I can wake up on a day I don't work and just enjoy being alive and appreciating all the beauty around me. Looking forward to this! I good write to put someone in a peaceful mood :)

Beautiful photo and description. I like the early morning. We can relax and start the day off slower. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry dear friend.

Your use of imagery in this piece is awesome. I'm not feeling at all good today so this gave me a smiley inside. Thanks for that. take care...dan

I like Dawn for the quiet of it all. The coolness of the air, the smell of freshness at the start of the day and the aroma of the dark roast wafting from my cuppa. And next to me sits my good friend Buster with his bone sharing it all with me!
