grandmother lois always said
“a lady remains a lady no matter what she is doing,
never forget this fact, child, it will help you
throughout your life
no matter what is placed in your path
for you to overcome”
so now on mothers day
i look at my mother
standing strong in her 80's
still sharp in mind and actions
and admire her all the more
because she survived
raising me and 1 sister and 3 brothers
and 5 of her brother’s kids as well
and, through every summer on the ranch, all 7 of my male cousins...
she held us all to her standards
taught us to work for what we want
and to do it without shame
no matter how hard the path becomes
i even came to love
her “evil eye” ,
christened that by my brother chuck
so very long ago,
and she still has it...
you know you are in deep “dodo”
when her left eyebrow recedes into her hair line
when she looks at you
words are not required
you know you have failed to toe the line
and can only apologize
and promise to do your best forever after...
i salute you mom
with LOVE,LUCK,n LAUGHTER...
this is your day
and boy oh boy did you earn it!!!
