MANY YEARS GONE

MANY YEARS GONE

A Poem by jeannemarie coulter

MANY YEARS GONE

after many years
i went home...
i saw it...

broken and half varnished,
like driftwood sleeping...
it was

empty and open,
dust dripped from the ceiling
like rain...

in the garden,
cobwebs sprouted dust designed buds
silently singing

to beckon entrance
into half remembered hideouts
and dry grass palaces...

but, even in spring
nothing grew that i knew
after so many years gone...

A sadly nostalgic return to a place for which there is no returning.
Your poem is nicely created and nicely expressed, dear poet.
