DESERT FIRE

DESERT FIRE

A Poem by jeannemarie coulter
"

an experience remembered

"
summer on the coulter ranch
30 miles north west of winnwmucca
standing in the center of the ranch yard
holding several skittish horses
snorting in the whirling swirling smoke
shying and dancing atremble with fear
as sheet lightning crackles
and
another high desert fire explodes on the rim
flames licking the sky in every direction
as we turn a full 360 degrees
and stare in wonder at the awesome
flashroarangercrackle
of god and nature
cleaning the desert of all dry waste
perhaps a preview of dante’s hell
unbound on earth as a warning to man...

This piece has so much imagery. I was there with you seeing the high desert and I liked it. I have been under the fire of the Northern Lights of Alaska. I lived for many years 500 miles south of the Arctic circle and I have been to and touched the top of the world.

If I had the ability to express my feelings about it with the level of excellence that you did with this piece, it would be magical. Thank you for sharing your excellent work and good mind.
