Simple Seuss(Today you are you)A Poem by John CiarmelloHe is one of my hero's!Simply Seuss (Today you are you)
"Green Eggs and Ham," my favorite rhyme, it corners a simple point in time, when all was good and hearts held droll. When words had meaning, and writer’s soul. I cheer them on these writer’s wrongs; the wolf, the pigs, and Dinah's bong. I sail close to words with Heart. Whether prose or rhyme, it’s the greats I chart. Simple are the words they write. a letter, a symbol… to end the night. Yes, it corners just a point in time when being good was not a crime. When genuine banter then cooled the hearts, alongside of the pie and the apple tarts. Now, what likes do our children have of rhyme? zombies, death, blood and crime? I sob now for new writer’s wrongs; they write not of the bluebird’s songs. Hence, I cherish this rhyme "Green eggs and Ham," the best, the worst, of "Sam, I am." Now, what do we write, these days of new? The Grinch? the fox? Horton's who? Well, the answer is, all writers new, Today my friends, you are you. © 2018 John CiarmelloAuthor's Note
