WhispersA Poem by Jess RoseWhispers, whispers, everywhere In the trees, in the air. Whispers, whispers, all around. In the sky, in the ground. Whispers say that you might die. Whispers say that you should lie. Whispers say you’re not alone. Even when you’re on your own. Something might creep up behind, Trying to control your mind. Stalk you, watch you while you sleep. Vanish if you make a peep. Silent shadow in the night, Filling up your heart with fright. When it moves without a touch, You’ve never feared the dark so much. Hide your children, run my dear. For the whispers are always near. Be strong my children, fight the fight. Fight the darkness, free the light. Break the silence, sing a song. Show them that they don’t belong. Fight until the battle’s done. Until the whispers have all but won. © 2014 Jess Rose |
