Embers of Intesity

Embers of Intesity

A Poem by Jessica
"

An honest reflections of my dating life

"
I think I scared him off,
I hope I haven't,
But I think I did.

Oh well,
Just another one to add to the list.

I'll admit I come on a little strong,
There's intensity in my love -
It's not for the weak.

So I'm a little bit crazy,
But it's my madness that makes me intriguing.
What would I be without it?

reflections and introspections are good to come back into the writing zone again, and this shows you haven't lost your touch in that decade since your last piece. But even though the touch is there, the craft can use a little work - maybe. Maybe I'm just using the last one I read as a bar and this isn't quite hitting it in the same way, which I shouldn't be making such a comparison as that was in rhyme and this is free verse. But I feel this is just a smattering of reflections that don't say too much. Or rather they present intriguing notions that end up going nowhere, as the following stanza is something else. Maybe I need another read to really figure what you're trying to do with this one. Because I like the smattery-ness of it, I just wonder if it's too terse and succinct given the subject matter. Great start, though, definitely intriguing.
