Letter 3:To My MomA Chapter by ajasminewallflowerDear Mom, Well, can you believe it’s been 18 years? It seemed like an eternity and only a hop skip and a jump away. Its funny when you say that you see me as the adult I am now but at the same time can remember my 5 year old self running to give you hugs at 11 o’clock at night. Just as a kid waiting by the door, making sure Dad didn’t put me to sleep too early to miss seeing you without fail, I’d do just about anything for you because you gave up your life to make sure Charlie and I had the best we could with the circumstances we had. I know life wasn’t easy after Dad left and with all the changes from new homes, husbands and jobs but we always made it work. We loved you and wanted you to be happy. We had some rough patches but because we had you, we made it and learned so much from all of it. Most of the time I wasn’t happy to have taken such a big leap away from my childhood but looking back on it now, you taught me so much that made me into the person I am today :A hardworking, loving and determined young woman. You always pushed me to be the best that I could and most of the time, I pushed back thinking I was never good enough. But in the end you just wanted to show me what my potential could be. And now that I’m older, I understand where you were coming from. And best of all, you taught me that some risks are worth taking and that great things can come from bad mistakes. The days we spent cooking to our hearts content, talking about stupid things and watching movies and cooking shows I’ll hold close in my heart and memory but no matter what I’m your daughter forever and always I love you Mommy © 2011 ajasminewallflower |
