The Girl

The Girl

A Poem by jaywolf1738

Coyotes are howling,
Out comes the moon.
The people are sleeping,
A sweet peaceful mood.
But there's one person who cannot snore,
It's me, the girl who cannot sleep,
The girl who wishes to once again dream,
But instead she lies awake at night,
Thinking of all her fears and frights,
Her soulmate she wishes to sleep by his side.
She stares at the ceiling and begins to cry,
The days are so long that she barely gets by,
She waits everyday for the time to be free,
For the time for her to live quite happily.

A lonely soul in the middle of a quiet night. Beautiful description of longing!

I liked the story in the poetry. The night noises can make us wish and need for things we do not have. You create place, girl and a wish. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
