In a Memory
A Poem by Jay Russell
Sometimes we yearn for someone or something we no longer have. We'd do anything just to hold for only a moment--to go back there one more time.
Take me through the night upon the dreams in your mind
Because they’re unlike any kind
To such simple sights and sounds I shall surrender
And from the dust-filled desolation of empty hope and hypocrisy
She will set me free
Oh, I beg beneath this burning sky to sit and be with you
On your loving avenue
On the front porch of your heart
Singing songs free from pain and without sorrow
I want to dance with you just one more time
To make one more memory
For only me to see
Because that’s all that’s left for tomorrow
