As I ascend the hill, its golden tresses
wave: hypnotic in the flighty puffs
of a wind sprite's silent chuckles.
Glittering lights sprawl:
glowing ivy
stretched across distant teeth,
cutting into a vast sea of watercolor
splatter—
pinkish midnight blues
blushing orange hues
fading
(glory)
The cracked gray pavement I tread upon
is rounded, curving up swiftly and proudly:
the earth a camel's hump
I walk up to the heavens,
endless boundless bottomless it's
everywhere—
the world sloping away at my feet:
a precipice
dizzying
And then I'm
whirling
twirling
circling
in the face of a full moon
on the summit of the universe
(behold)
And the gilded moon—a breath away—
just a stretch and it's trapped,
oh so easily, between my mortal fingers.
From cloaked and unknown depths
something rises within me
stirring from shadowed slumber—
stretches gossamer wings:
breathe
and my lungs my nose my throat
are cleansed to awaken
so fresh and icy
a rush of something
(and the world has never been so clear)
my veins crackle: blue sparks
and I shudder
(is it cold?)
and my blood dances wild
and my soul it sings
my chest feels tight
my heart fit to burst
with this uncontainable
feeling
(exalt)
and I marvel,
gazing in wonder
at the skies,
that if this is merely his Creation
how beautiful God must be.
