DustA Poem by Maura AnsleyA dark and dusty room
holds the past and present a room filled with terrors the sound of screaming the taste of tears the feeling of a cruel hand across a young girls cheek the memory's are vivid As if it were yesterday The tangled webs of time and fate have brought me here today, to this broken home where bad memories pile up, inches thick like the dust that coats the floor the footprints I leave behind me are memories suppressed images and feelings that build up inside me upon the sight of a tattered book, lying open on the floor my favorite as a child the pages once contained an escape now they contain hope I leave more broken than I ever have been yet somehow more whole because of the dust that sticks to my shoes, yesterday's memories long ago discarded until today © 2015 Maura Ansley |
