Winning at LifeA Poem by Jay SteitlerDifferent definitions of winning. Development of the piece, was an emotional process. Not sure I'd finish. It still may not be "finished". Time will tell.Winning is not some ginned up joke, from a bloke with a bad habit! It's about redness abating in the stump of a limb long lost, indicating infection's subsiding. Fever's broke! You may live another day. It's about overcoming fears, that have plagued you for years. It's about coming to realization, the many facets of yourself & others, without having to idealize things. Its about receiving the pride that comes from mother's love, even when you didn't abide by her every wish. Winning is the privilege of witnessing a child gleefully muse over a puppy, being in the moment. It's about the acceptance of friends, and knowing the difference from shysters, who would pilfer and heist everything you are. You see, winning cannot be isolated to any one thing, allowing you to thrive. It is the sum all parts, allowing you to feel truly alive.
