A Night at the Dojo

A Night at the Dojo

A Poem by Jay Steitler
"

After a 24 hr dry spell, an itch to write about a personal hobby

"
Confidence, courtesy, strength, and control,
that's how the karate student is expected to roll.
With an image as a lethal art,
enrollment sets the courageous and timid apart.
Down blocks, side blocks, head blocks, and punches.
But basic calasthenics are important,
so don't forget those crunches!
Some nights there's nothing as hard as that bag.
Those are the times for extra effort, and swag.
The stench of sweat. Electricity in the air.
Come join a dojo, if your dare!

This is short, sweet, and to the point. It has a good energy about it though and would definitely tempt the young and inquisitive. This reminds me of my younger sister, ever the tomboy, who loved karate when she was younger. I can still see her in her gi. Thanks for the memory. :-)

Short, sweet, and to the point indeed, as is an invigorating session of Tae Kwon Do, of which I am a very average exponent.

Beccy.
