Pull the LeverA Poem by Jay Baileythe end of western civilization and a bag of popcorn
Conscience full of numb at the end of the world
Watching the fires that are burning everything to cinder I'm starting to realize that the fire is invisible to most people I wonder why I can see it I don't feel scared I don't feel panicked I kinda welcome it Let's get this bullshit over with Level the playing field This has been a joke of a life for some time now You see morons put in positions of power And hear the media falling over themselves for the story Asking why everything went wrong Why it all blew up in their faces I'm sitting back and watching it happen Like the best ending to a movie that I have ever seen This was always meant to fall apart anyway You can only patch holes in something for so long Before the entire structure just gives out The frayed nerves of beaten down humans Are the glue that holds this all together Heat the glue And watch it all fall down There is very simple patterns that you can see in this If you just get enough distance from it But most are too close And they can't see what's under their nose The end will not be sudden It will be slow and quiet And before you know it Your bank account will no longer let you in Your money will no longer have any value And when you turn around to run away That is when you'll see the nets and the bars of the cage They were there the whole time You just didn't ever take the time to look up and see it These walls may be invisible But make no mistake They are miles thick And they've had years to build them There's no getting out It's over They won And slavery is back in style Kiss the ring Salute the flag And fall in line like the good little patriot that you are No one can open your eyes for you It's always been a choice © 2016 Jay Bailey |
