Belts Without BucklesA Poem by jawdriscolla poem written in song.Belts Without Buckles I don’t want to be a part of something greater than my former glory, And’ I don’t want to shed the light on something other than this lost story, We’re all lost in times where men in arms lead fruitless battles, Won’t sit here swallowing more like hopeless men, the herded cattle. It must have been the words inside my head, The way the gods and the ghosts and the homeless dread Well carry me down to the center square Let us all come together and end the despair. I used to think that God and state were the triumph of our homeland But’ when I walked these impoverished streets it tore my heart"inspired this last stand The days and games they used to play have finally perished Embrace the fellow man, make peace and start to cherish. Now’ It must have been the words inside my head, The way the gods and the ghosts and the homeless dread Well carry me down to the center of the square Let us all come together and end the despair… Let us all come together and end the despair. Tell yourself it’s something in the wind, A part of life that we have"well stop pretending. Now’ It eats the souls of the prisoners and the peace, The last flowers that we stopped remembering.
It must have been the words inside my head, The way the gods and ghosts and the homeless dread Well carry me down to the center of the square Let us all come together and end the despair… Oh"Let us all come together and end the despair… Let us all come together and end the despair. © 2010 jawdriscoll |
