Texas

Texas

A Poem by Kermit Gildersleeve

The Lone star state,

I stand in a dome of blue glass,

turning about,

the sand warm between my toes,

The distant bareheaded mountains,

laying like fallen broken teeth,

A weed skitters past, idly

Its me and the cloud,

alone

You must be speaking of west Texas, maybe an area like Van Horn, etc. There's not a lot there, but it does have a special beauty and alure for those of us who crave big skies and land unspoilt. Your few words say much.
